ReplyDeleteI was hoping that the SGS2 had better performance during low-light conditions. But seeing the pictures you took with cars, maybe that's why the SGS2 had poor performance in pitchdark. I think it defaults to a faster shutter speed hence lesser light comes through to the sensor. Great for capturing action shots and reducing blur especially when you're moving while taking a picture, but it's bad when in low-light scenes. I also liked the colors of the SGS2 with the photos of the sky and plants. It's kinda like the optics has a built-in polarizing filter (like the filter used for DSLRs) making the greens look more "alive".

ReplyDeleteYou're barking mad. The Galaxy S2's sensor is horrible. The best example? The last set of photographs(Flash Off. Purely Night Photos.. All Auto).
ReplyDeleteCompare the noise of the two. Lets say both photos were taken at f4. If it is true that GS2's shutter is faster, then that means the AI of GS2 decided to use a higher ISO setting to take the photographs which resulted in a massive loss of detail(compare the buildings).
For the "Day photos", (http://img818.imageshack.us/img818/6885/20110728161333.jpg) it seems to have trouble with exposure metering backlit scenes resulting in the loss of detail in the foreground(bush appeared completely black, imagine if it is a person. He/She will just be a dark shape). Another example is the barbecue photo. this time, overexposure resulting in washed-out detail in the background.
The standard in determining a good camera is by how much detail it can capture in different lighting conditions and exposure settings.
You can see it for yourselves. Nokia N8 is the runaway winner. So please stop kidding yourselves. It won't replace my rangefinder as my P&S camera but, IT IS THE BEST CAMERAPHONE in the market.
Auto settings create noise. Is better to manually set all. the auto setting usually sets a high ISO, that create much noise.

but when i mean faster .. cause the n8 photos at night without flash are mostly blurry watch the cars .. the sgs2 instead captures the moving cars more still ...
i like the n8 more at night but in Day photos sgs2 photos are more realistic ... thats it ... although the sgs2 is aggressive but its acceptable.
Friends.... Camera wise N8 is much better. I have N8 and my flatmate has galaxy s2. At many points we have compared the images. Especially in low light N8 Camera is far better than Samsung galaxy s2. (Actually Only thing I like in my N8 is its camera everything else is bullshit especially software.....:P)
